Sri Lanka Shippers' Council held its 49th Annual General Meeting on 26th July 2019 at 5.30 pm at The Barnes, Jetwing Colombo Seven, Colombo followed by the Post Business Session and cocktails. Mr. Mangala P. B. Yapa, Chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka graced the occasions as the Chief Guest and the keynote speaker.

The 48th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Shippers' Council held on Monday, 09th July, 2018 at 5.30 p.m. at the Lotus Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel,Colombo. The Chief Guest and the Keynote Speaker was Hon. Eran Wickramaratne, State Minister of Finance and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Ajay Sharma Regional Head of Global Trade and Receivables Finance, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) Asia Pacific.

The 47th Annual General Meeting and the Post Business Session of the Sri Lanka Shippers' Council was held on 16th June 2017 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel under the distinguished patronage of Dr. Harsha De Silva, Deputy Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, as the Chief Guest and the Key Note Speaker.

46th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Shippers' Council was held on 29th July 2016 at the Board Room of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Sean Van Dort re-elected as the Chairman for the year 2016/2017. Thereafter Mr. Chrisso De Mel was re-elected as 1st Vice Chairman and 2nd Vice Chairman respectively.

In order to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Shippers' Council, a tree planting ceremony was held recently at the Hambantota port. The ceremony was held under the distinguished patronage of Hon. Arjuna Ranatunga, Minister of Ports & Shipping.

45th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Shippers' Council was held on 24th July 2015 at Union Ballroom, Hilton Colombo Residences, followed by the Post Business Session and cocktails. Mr. Tissa Wickramasinghe, General Manager - Commercial & Marketing, Colombo International Container Terminals Ltd was the Guest of Honour at this occasion. Mr. Sean Van Dort re-elected as the Chairman for the year 2015/2016. Thereafter, Mr. Nalin Silva and Mr. Chrisso De Mel were re-elected as 1st Vice Chairman and 2nd Vice Chairman respectively.

Sri Lanka Shippers' Council held its 44th Annual General Meeting on the 27th June 2014 at 5.30 p.m. at Earl's Court, Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo followed by "the Post Business Session" and cocktails. . The Secretary to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance & Planning, Dr. P.B. Jayasundara was the Chief Guest and the key note speaker at the AGM. . Mr. Ashroff Omar, CEO of Brandix Lanka limited graced this occasion as the Guest of Honour. Mr. Sean Van Dort assumed responsibility as the Chairman of the Council for the year 2014/15.

Sri Lanka Shippers' Council which is affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held its 43rd AGM on 14th June 2013 at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo with Dr. Priyath B. Wickrama, Chairman Sri Lanka Ports Authority, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Dinesh De Silva was re-elected as the Chairman of the Council, whilst Mr. Sean Van Dort and Mr. Nalin Silva were re-elected as the 1st Vice Chairman and the 2nd Vice Chairman of the Council respectively.

Awareness Seminar on Avoiding risks on ad-hoc charges in international trade contracts

Today there are many trade disputes, where Exporters & Importers lose their profits heavily. The issues are either with their trading partner contracts or with 3p service provider agreements. It is certainly important for the trade to understand these Unfair & unrealistic trade practices.

Full Implimentation Of Sri Lanka Custom'S Asycuda World System

ASYCUDA World (AW) full implementation is becoming a reality and Sri Lanka Customs is now in the final stages of automatingCinec Campus its processes to ensure that the trade is facilitated to the maximum with no operational delays at a minimal cost. The ASYCUDA World system is now being fully implemented for both Imports and Exports trades.

Sri Lanka Shippers Council visits Mattala Airport and Magampura Port

The tour delegation comprised over 170 participants from member Associations of the Council including Exporters, Importers, Freight forwarders, Logistics providers, Courier companies and Shipping lines. The participants were amazed to see the developments that have taken place at the project site.

Open Discussion - Issues related to SLPA's newly implemented Cargo Management Module, Organised by Shippers' Council

42nd Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Shippers' Council

Sri Lanka Shippers' Council affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held its 42nd AGM on 27th July 2012 at Earl's Court Cinnamon Lakeside with Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal, the Governor of the Central Bank gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Gehan Kuruppu stepped down as the Chairman of the Shippers� Council after serving in the committee in the said capacity for two years. Mr. Dinesh De Silva assumed responsibility as Chairman for Shippers Council whilst Mr. Sean Van Dort was elected as First Vice Chairman.

SLSC conducted Inspection tour to SLPA Warehouses

Representatives of Shippers' Council had an opportunity to visit the Sri Lanka Ports Authority to inspect facilities available at the SLPA warehouses, check documentation and observe the payments protocols at the Canal Yard Office recently. The visit was organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce as a part of its trade facilitation initiative.

Advance Facilities to the Shipping Industry from SL Ports Authority

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority is moving forward with its automation program and are promoting the trading community to understand the concept of their new operating system.In keeping line with this, the Sri Lanka Shipper's Council, the apex body represents the voice of the Sri Lankan Shipper's largely, in its continuous pursuit to educate trade, organized an awareness seminar on extension of the NAVI'S system, together with Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Bank of Ceylon on 26th January at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

Shippers' Council Visits Colombo South Harbour
